Guest Post: Rogue’s Santa’s Private Reserve Ale

23 Dec

By Erica Thompson of Hancock MI (though always Alaskan at heart)

I’m a sucker for a holiday seasonal (and holidays in general) so of course I requested a holiday posting as my first guest post on LTAB.  Santa’s Private Reserve Ale is something of a tradition in our house.  During earlier years of our courtship, my partner was stationed in Newport, Oregon and thus, Rogue beer has a special place in his heart.  So each year I make sure there’s a bottle of Santa’s Private Reserve underneath our tree come Christmas morning.

Rogue’s Santa’s Private Reserve Ale

It’s an American Amber, a Red Ale, and the color is a dark caramel with almost coppery tones in it when the light hits your pint glass just right.  Similarly to other winter seasonals, the flavor is bold and filling, you can clearly smell the grain as you enjoy the first sips.  Hoppy with a piney, citrus finish, drinking it evokes the same feelings as being nose-deep in the branches of an evergreen as the bolts in the tree stand are tightened below.

What are you drinking this Christmas?
